The Commissioner's Task Force (North) and Abids police apprehended an individual for allegedly organizing online cricket betting during the ongoing World Cup matches. The suspect, Ishan Ali, 33, living in Abids, had ₹3.40 lakh in cash on him. The primary bookie in this operation is Barkath Lalani, currently in the United States.
The police revealed that Ali learned about this activity while working with a bookie in 2014. When the bookie faced losses, punters started connecting with Ali, who then supervised them. He reached out to Lalani through his previous connections, acquired the master ID, and granted access to the punters.
