Massachusetts gambling regulator fines Fanatics for prohibited college sports wager

For accepting a low-stakes parlay wager that featured an in-state college basketball game, Fanatics Betting and Gaming was fined $15,000 by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. In the past two months, the operator has received two fines.

At the end of 2023, Fanatics accepted a $2 parlay bet, according to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission during a meeting. A Massachusetts college basketball team played in a non-tournament game during one of the four legs. The state of Massachusetts forbids betting on in-state collegiate teams when they are not participating in tournaments.
