Massachusetts Gaming Commision to ponder over possible penalties for illegal sports wagers

For "a series of illegal sports wagers," Massachusetts authorities will decide whether to penalize MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor. There will be two online hearings the following week. Statewide live in-person betting has been available for the past month. The three casinos in Massachusetts have acknowledged that since going on the market, customers have been able to make unlawful wagers there. Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission opened an investigation as a result of the recent reports. The inquiry revealed that over $1,200 was wagered on two Harvard University basketball games at the casino in February. The commission will think about fining the casino because the university "was incorrectly listed as an out-of-state institution."
