The London Assembly Health Committee has called on the mayor of London to follow through on his promise made in his 2021 manifesto to outlaw gambling advertisements on the Tube and other Transport for London channels.
Against an overall revenue of £4.3 billion, this service made £663,640 from gambling advertisements in 2022–2023.
The committee heard that a legal dispute over the definition of harmful gambling was the reason behind the delay in enforcing the ban.
