MGM Resorts Disrupted by Cyber Criminals

MGM Resorts, a leading casino operator, fell victim to a cyberattack on September 10th carried out by the Scattered Spider group. This criminal group is known for tricking staff into sharing login details.
The assault forced MGM to shutdown several important systems like websites and booking functions. This significantly disturbed business operations and lowered stock prices.
It remains unclear if customer information was taken. However, MGM warns people to watch accounts carefully for anomalies.
Scattered Spider also attacked Caesars Entertainment recently. Caesars paid hackers tens of millions to regain control, showing these cyber crimes pose a rising threat in the gaming industry.
Casinos store much private financial and card data, an enticement for wrongdoers. Firms must tighten security, like extra logins and worker training. They also need attack response plans to lessen disruptions if hackers strike.
