MGM Springfield penalized for allowing wagers on college basketball

For permitting betting on two Harvard men's basketball games against Yale and Brown on February 3-4 of this year, MGM Springfield was fined $20,000. Each event's betting was available for between 21 and 20 hours, and a total of 28 tickets were purchased from betting kiosks. According to the gambling commission, two winning tickets were redeemed at the sportsbook counter and two at a kiosk. The commission claims that BetMGM, the casino's sportsbook provider, previously misidentified Harvard as being in Connecticut, resulting in the unapproved bets.
