Michigan police investigate scammers using stolen credit cards to buy lottery tickets

The illegal purchase of lottery tickets worth substantial sums of money is the subject of a credit card fraud investigation by Michigan law enforcement. Investigators have identified individuals they believe are part of a fraud ring that obtains these lottery tickets by using cards and credit card numbers that have been stolen.

Using credit card numbers and credit card theft, con artists have been going to these lottery retailers to purchase scratch-off tickets valued at thousands of dollars. Near closing time, they typically target smaller convenience stores, according to county police.
