Michigan successfully bans Bovada from operating in state

Following a cease-and-desist order from the state regulator, the offshore betting site Bovada was prohibited from operating in Michigan for a few weeks.

According to the regulator, Bovada was breaking several sections of the Michigan penal code, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Lawful Internet Gaming Act.

Legal action, in the opinion of several industry participants, ought to come after the cease-and-desist orders.
