Sports betting in Mississippi is still only available at physical sportsbooks located in the state's casinos and riverboats.
The state House of Representatives passed legislation to allow sports betting online and eliminate the need for bettors to physically visit a gambling establishment. There were only 11 "no" votes and 89 "yes" votes.
Additionally, casinos were exempt from paying licensing fees in order to obtain retail sports betting privileges; instead, they were required to give the state between 11 and 12 percent of their in-person sports gambling earnings, with the final rate being determined by their monthly winnings.
