After a few weeks of play, both teams are somewhat surprisingly above midtable. Even though both teams still have problems and the postseason is far away, they at least have some early momentum. Goaltending needs to be improved right now because it presents issues for both teams. While the Blue Jackets have won their only game this year on the road, Montreal has already experienced hot and cold streaks at home. Ultimately, Columbus has been a little more reliable early on, and that gives them the advantage as they manage to win this game on the road.
