More casino operators reach out to cybersecurity firm after recent scares

More casino owners are working to strengthen their cybersecurity infrastructure in light of the ransomware attacks that affected two of their competitors, Caesars Entertainment and MGM Resorts International.

These incidents—one of which required Caesars to pay the criminals and the ongoing attack on MGM's database—highlight the travel and leisure sector's cybersecurity flaws and the necessity for that sector to adopt preventative measures.

Cybersecurity risks are a problem for all businesses, but the gaming sector is particularly affected because of the vast volumes of private customer information that casino operators must protect. Because of this, casinos are top targets for hackers.

It comes as no surprise to learn that an increasing number of casino operators are seeking the assistance of cybersecurity firms following recent alarming incidents. The gaming sector, much like various other industries, has become heavily dependent on technology, rendering it an attractive and vulnerable prey for malicious cyberattacks.
