Mother tried in court after stealing $27,0000 from kids' sports team to fund gambling addiction

Following a mother who stole tens of thousands of pounds to feed her gambling addiction, children's sports teams were forced to disband.

Over the course of nearly four years, the suspect stole more than £27,000 from the club while serving as its volunteer treasurer. The soon-to-be grandmother sobbed as she was released from court.

The offender acknowledged stealing while using a crutch to get around in court. She was sentenced to 16 months in prison suspended for two years, 80 hours of unpaid labor, and a maximum 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement. She sobbed as she left the courtroom.
