Mount Airy casino hand sanitizer slip-and-fall lawsuit revived

A state appeals court ruled that there is sufficient evidence for a jury to reasonably find negligence in a slip-and-fall case that names Mount Airy Casino Resort as a defendant. The case will proceed.

Mount Airy allegedly hung a number of hand sanitizer dispensers on the sides of slot machines, according to the lawsuit. A particular hand sanitizing station on a slot cabinet was used by three customers, according to casino surveillance footage taken between 12:15 and 12:30 a.m. on the morning of the July 4 holiday.

A state appeals court ruled that there is enough evidence for a jury to consider negligence in a slip-and-fall lawsuit involving Mount Airy Casino Resort. The case claims the casino placed hand sanitizer dispensers on slot machines, with surveillance footage showing customers using one specific station just before the incident. This setup allegedly contributed to the fall. The decision means the case will proceed to trial to determine if the casino was negligent in its actions.
