Must pocket aces always be played for the whole amount of money in chips, also called stacks? Not according to the Independent Chip Model or ICM. ICM examines how your performance in the tournament will impact your total winnings based on remaining field size. Sometimes, using ICM, only a normal raise with your aces is the wiser move to stay safe yet climb positions for the latter half when stacks get shallower but payouts larger. Raising excessively too soon is not always the mathematically perfect decision.

It counts where you sit at the table. In an early position, a forceful raise could contribute to the pot's growth. If you are in a later position, you can decide how to play your aces by watching what other players do.

i think ICM (Independent Chip Model) is a mathematical model used in tournament poker to calculate the value of chips and the optimal strategy for players. It takes into account factors such as the number of players remaining in the tournament, the size of the player's chip stack, and the payout structure.
