Must Pocket Aces Always Mean An All-In? ICM Says Think Again

Pocketing a pair of aces does not always mean forcing all your chips into the middle. Indeed, while pocket aces give you an excellent starting hand, that alone should not dictate your play. There are several factors to consider before going all-in with aces, including your chip stack relative to others, blinds and antes increasing soon, and who could call your raise. Sometimes patience and allowing weaker hands to knock themselves out pays off more than just isolating your aces against a hopeful call. Playing optimal based on implied odds and stack sizes may keep you in the game longer.

I think Pocket aces are generally considered to be the strongest starting hand in Texas hold'em poker, and many players choose to go all-in preflop (before the flop) to maximize their chances of winning a big pot. However, the decision to go all-in with pocket aces should be based on a variety of factors, including stack sizes, position, the number of players at the table, and the stage of the tournament.
