National Lottery winner seeks benefits after spending money in matter of weeks

After spending his winnings in a matter of weeks, a man who won £80,000 on the National Lottery wants to "go back on benefits."

When he won the money, a Motherwell grandfather was receiving benefits.

However, he failed to report his lottery win to the Department for Work and Pensions, and when the tax office discovered the money in his bank account, they filed a report on him.

The department consequently ceased to provide his housing benefit, income support, and council tax reduction.
