Nebraska casinos delivering homeowners property tax relief

To mitigate the increase in property taxes, Nebraska legislators and the general public approved the construction of up to six commercial casinos in 2020. Some homeowners are already reaping the benefits of their decision, less than four years later.

The budget for 2024–25 is still being finalized by the Hall County Board of Commissioners. Most recently, the commission recommended lowering property taxes for homeowners by allocating $819K in funds that were obtained from the temporary Grand Island Casino Resort at the Fonner Park horse racetrack.
