New Jersey lawmaker's casino smoking comments draw fiery response

Several of his Democratic colleagues and the majority leader of the New Jersey Assembly were seated on a panel during the conference. Although a wide range of subjects were covered, the issue of casino smoking came up because the gathering was held inside a resort in Atlantic City.

He presented employment estimates from the casino sector, which contend that a smoking ban would ruin their operations and help the nearby Philadelphia casinos, where smoking is permitted on the majority of the gaming floors.
