New Mexico lawmakers draft bill to completely end state lottery

The idea of completely ending the New Mexico Lottery was put forth in a bill that was introduced to the state legislature of New Mexico. A bill that could end the state lottery is being discussed by lawmakers in New Mexico, who are worried about how to fund the state's scholarship program. According to a document provided to the legislature, 27 schools have scholarship recipients as a result of the Lottery Scholarship program, which is supported by the New Mexico Lottery. More than 20,000 students at those 27 schools received lottery-funded scholarships in just Fiscal Year 2022.
