New Mexico Supreme Court ruling states that casinos can't be sued in state courts

The Supreme Court of New Mexico has decided that tribal courts, not state courts, should handle personal injury lawsuits against tribal casinos. The tribes in the state, who have long considered the matter to be one of sovereignty, will applaud the decision.

Due to concerns that they may not receive a fair trial and that tribal courts may act in the casinos' best interests, some civil litigants would rather have their cases handled by state courts.
