New research dismisses concerns of casino cannibalization

According to recent research by Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, there is no reason to be concerned about land-based and mobile casinos becoming more similar to one another. The study, which was commissioned by iDEA Growth, contends that internet casinos may even boost earnings at physical casinos.

The study finds that the launch of mobile casino apps increases land-based casino revenue by 2.44 percent on average each quarter. The data used for this comes from US states that have both land-based and online casinos. According to the study, once online casinos are legalized, a typical state's casino revenue will increase by 1.7% annually.
