New York Gaming Commission confirms cybersecurity incident

A cybersecurity event according to the New York Gaming Commission, caused a number of the state's casinos that run video lottery terminals to temporarily close or experience disruptions. The state's central lottery system powers the slot-like machines.

VLTs are connected together and use lottery simulations to determine whether a spin wins or loses, despite having the appearance, sound, and functionality of traditional Las Vegas slot machines. A specific payout rate is preprogrammed into the network. The activities of the entire network throughout the nine VLT assets determine when such victories occur.

There is no proof that any consumer information was taken in the cybersecurity breach, according to the New York Gaming Commission. Additionally, the state is remaining silent about the event's details, such as if it was the work of a criminal hacking gang.
