NHL player admits to gambling habits with illegal gambling sites

Evander Kane, a troubled NHL player, claims to have bet as much as $50 per day with shady bookmakers when his gambling addiction was at its height. Kane, 31, is being sued by Centennial Bank, his largest creditor, who claims that he shouldn't be allowed to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy because that would allow him to renegotiate some of his debts. In January 2021, the left winger for the Edmonton Oilers declared bankruptcy, claiming a total debt of $26.8 million. Despite having only agreed to a $49 million contract with the San Jose Sharks three years prior, this is the case. After submitting a fake COVID-19 vaccination card to the Sharks early last year, Kane's contract with the team was terminated.
