NHL suspends Senators forward for violating league gambling policy

Shane Pinto, a forward for the Ottawa Senators, received a 41-game suspension from the National Hockey League on Thursday for breaking the league's sports betting policy.

Pinto is currently the second professional athlete facing a major suspension from their league. Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United was suspended by the Italian Football Federation earlier today for placing bets on professional soccer.

Pinto's betting violations are not entirely evident. Regarding the specific actions that led to the 22-year-old'suspension, the NHL has not commented.
