North Carolina legislators say video gambling machine laws could come again this year

The recent statements from prominent members of the General Assembly appear to have tempered enthusiasm for expanding the number of casinos in North Carolina during the forthcoming legislative session. Nevertheless, they hinted this week that there could be a renewed push to legalize and regulate video gambling machines once spring arrives.

In the previous year, lawmakers had the opportunity to pass a proposal that would have empowered the state lottery commission to grant licenses for gaming machines and establish four more casinos across the state.
