North Carolina officials and legislators seeking a casino

Although there won't be any commercial casinos in North Carolina for some time, talks earlier this year about allowing table games and slot machines in the capital led local boards and governments to take positions on the contentious issue.

They believe that in order to keep gaming money inside the border, North Carolina should permit commercial casinos close to the Virginia border, where new casinos are opening, and possibly along key interstates.

Positioning casinos along major interstates can draw in travelers passing through the state, creating an additional revenue stream and boosting tourism. Nonetheless, this endeavor also necessitates vigilant regulation to guarantee responsible gaming and address potential social challenges associated with gambling.
