North Carolina senator changes mind on casino gambling

After spearheading a contentious campaign to locate commercial casino resorts in urban areas, the top Republican in the North Carolina Senate has retracted his support for gambling.

Strong opposition to permitting casino resorts in their hometowns was also voiced by local officials and residents of the targeted counties. Additionally, county boards claimed that the senator excluded them from the talks about gaming.
