North Carolina sports betting will not be launched by January 2024

In order to allow bets in time for the college football national championship on January 8, 2024, lawmakers in North Carolina approved a sports betting law earlier this year. Regulators did, however, disclose on Tuesday that the new program won't be accessible online by that time.

There's still no certainty about when exactly the state's legal wagering will launch; it might not happen until June 15. New sports betting laws must be established by the North Carolina Lottery Commission, and during a meeting on Tuesday, officials told the commission's sports betting committee that it is not possible to meet the January 8 launch date.

The launch of sports betting in North Carolina has been pushed back once again, with the state lottery commission announcing that it is unlikely to be up and running by January 2024. The lottery commission had previously set a target date of January 2023 for the launch, but this has now been delayed due to a number of factors, including legal challenges and delays in getting the necessary technology in place. North Carolina is one of several states that have been slow to get sports betting off the ground, despite the growing popularity of the activity across the country.
