North Carolina universities rake in cash as gambling losses exceed $100 million

Millions of people have lost money since sports gambling was legalized in North Carolina, but athletics at several universities and other state schools will benefit greatly from it. According to the state lottery commission, in the first full month of sports betting's legalization, the state lost over $105 million. Only the last two-thirds of the month of March were included in the figure, which came to $66 million. A total of over $30 million in tax revenue has been collected thus far, with 18% of that amount going back to the state.
