Notre Dame suspends men's swimming team after investigation reveals gambling violations

An external review discovered multiple infractions of gambling regulations and that team members did not "treat one another with dignity and respect," leading Notre Dame to suspend its men's swimming program for a minimum of one year, the university said on Thursday.

According to Notre Dame, following the reporting of potential misbehavior to the administration, the university hired the legal firm Ropes & Gray to conduct an investigation.

Team members who violate the anti-gambling regulations will be subject to sanctions; however, they will be allowed to transfer.
