NSW Liquor & Gaming is going after unlawful gambling adverts with more vigor.

Due to a recent rise in penalties levied, NSW Liquor & Gaming has devised a new fine mechanism.

Since 2016, the regulator has fined bookmakers who published unlicensed gambling ads more than AU$1.1 milliion.

An offense under the NSW Betting and Racing Act is publishing a gambling advertising that "includes any inducement to get involved or participate often, in any gambling activity."

The most recent operator to get a warning for giving enhanced odds unlawfully is Bet Right, and the business was fined AU$20,000. Three other accusations against the operator were dismissed.
