Oklahoma casino tribes oppose governor's sports betting plan

Federally recognized tribes in Oklahoma are opposing a plan to legalize sports betting.

State tribes in Oklahoma are against the governor's proposed plan for regulated sports betting because they feel it infringes upon their gaming compacts and rights to be the only ones offering wagering in the state. His proposal, which was first made public last year, calls for the Oklahoma Lottery Commission to handle online wagering while tribal casinos and other gaming facilities would be able to accept retail sports bets in the state.
