The governor of Oklahoma is venting his dissatisfaction over the state's unsuccessful attempts to legalize sports betting.
He put forth a proposal earlier this year that would allow retail sports betting in Oklahoma to be provided at tribal casinos and other gaming venues all around the state, with online wagering made available through the Oklahoma Lottery Commission. The plan included a $100,000 yearly licensing fee for market access, 15% taxation on retail betting for operators, and 20% taxation on online sportsbooks. Indian tribes in Oklahoma refused to back his plan.
