Ontario seeks court verdict on online gambling with international players

Regarding the legality of allowing players on Ontario's regulated online gaming platforms to communicate with other players outside of Canada, Premier Doug Ford's administration has requested a court ruling.

This case, which will be heard in Toronto, is the result of a cabinet order that requests that the Ontario Court of Appeal decide whether or not the Criminal Code would permit interactions between parties abroad. According to Ontario's Attorney General Doug Downey, the court's ruling will make it clear whether a model that would bar players from other Canadian provinces is lawful.
