Opponents of smoking in casinos seeking to enlist supporters of gambling shareholders

A Michigan health system and a national nonsmoking organization have added shareholder proposals to the agendas of two major gaming companies' annual meetings, and they plan to add a third.

The companies are being asked to investigate the possible financial advantages of implementing a smoke-free policy at their casino properties.

Furthermore, the action is just another part of the opponents of casino smoking's concerted effort to stop smoking in gaming establishments, even though it is unclear whether investors will accept the plans.
