Pennsylvania casinos strive for equal taxation on skill games

Because the state permits tens of thousands of unlicensed "skill games" to operate tax-free, the operators of the twelve Pennsylvania casinos have filed a lawsuit asking the state Supreme Court to declare the 54% tax they pay on slot machine revenues unconstitutional.

Up to 100,000 unlicensed slot machine-like games are reportedly in operation throughout the state. They can be found at restaurants, pizzerias, petrol stations, convenience stores, and other places where there are no age restrictions. Politicians who claim the games bring in money for small businesses and fraternal organizations have expressed support for the games.
