Pennsylvania gaming board assists Japan with casino regulations

A delegation from Japan that will be in charge of granting licenses and overseeing the country's upcoming casinos recently agreed to meet with gaming regulators in Pennsylvania and Nevada.

Since the casinos were permitted more than five years ago, only one development has been allowed. A group that has been given the go-ahead to develop the multibillion-dollar MGM Osaka project is led by MGM Resorts and the Japanese financial conglomerate Orix Corporation. The three casinos' license and subsequent management are the responsibility of Japan's Casino Regulatory Commission. Since Japan has never had casino gaming, the commission is picking up knowledge as it goes.

It's fascinating to learn that the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is lending a helping hand to Japan in the realm of casino regulations. The exchange of regulatory knowledge and best practices can prove incredibly valuable as Japan forges ahead with the development of its casino industry.

It's great to see regulatory bodies collaborating to ensure the safe and responsible growth of new gaming markets.
While expanding gaming opportunities is welcomed by many, it is important robust regulations are implemented with community interests in mind.
