Petersburg casino referendum approved for November ballot

In addition to choosing the next American president, Virginia voters in November will also determine whether or not to approve the opening of a commercial casino in their community.

A week after Petersburg was approved as a suitable host city for a commercial casino by the Virginia Lottery Board, the judge gave her the go-ahead. Virginia's 2020 commercial gaming law assigned the lottery agency the responsibility of overseeing sports betting and casino gaming within the commonwealth.
