Playing too long affects your performance.

Nothing hurts a poker player's game like sittin' at the table too long. A man's mind and judgment start to go when the hours drag on and the money's runnin' low. Make a big pot early and you get locked into your seat, thinking one more hand'll be the one to turn it all around. Before you know it, you're three sheets to the wind, calling flops you normally never would.

The best poker is patient, calculating poker. But after a dozen drinks and dawn approaching, smart play goes out the window. The keys to winning at poker are knowing when to walk away, keeping your wits about you, and not overstaying your welcome at the table just for the chance at one more hand. Quit while you're ahead, I always say! One bad hand can wreck an otherwise great day at the tables.
