On Thursday, the operators of a website that catered mainly to teenagers and provided illicit gambling services were taken into custody by Korean police.
The Korea Metropolitan Police Agency's cyber investigation unit detained a man in his 20s on suspicion of running an unlicensed online gambling website. 16 teenagers—two of whom are thought to be the site's founders—who are suspected of running it are also being investigated.
According to officers, two boys—one in middle school and the other in high school—created the website in December 2022. Officials claim the boys are highly proficient with computers and that they became acquainted through an online video game community.
