Political fundraising lotteries to be exempt from new Irish gambling laws

The new Gambling Regulation Bill, which needs to be passed, will not apply to political parties.

The contentious bill, which in some cases will restrict individual wagers to just €10, was supposed to make it to the report and final stages not too long ago.

But because a few things were removed from the political agenda, it was postponed.

With the passage of the Bill, the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland will be established, tasked with regulating all facets of gambling, including lotteries that are charitable or philanthropic.
