Pope County judge submits letter of support for Cherokee casino license acquisition

An amended letter of support has been filed by a Pope County judge in favor of Cherokee Nation Businesses receiving the county's sole commercial casino license.

The Arkansas Supreme Court decided last week that CNB was incorrectly granted the Pope County gaming concession by the Arkansas Racing Commission since the organization applied in collaboration with Legends Hospitality.

In 2018, Arkansans approved a statewide gaming referendum requiring only single-entity applications to be taken into consideration. An applicant needs to show that they have experience running a commercial casino in order to be accepted.
