Prime Minister urged to conduct investigation into election betting

After one of his close protection officers was detained for allegedly placing a wager on the date of the UK general election, the prime minister of Britain was urged to conduct an investigation.

The Gambling Commission reportedly notified London's Metropolitan Police that an officer employed by the prime minister's security detail was being looked into for the purported bets.

Investigations into allegations that a candidate for the Conservative party, who was the leader's ministerial aide, had wagered on the date of the election had already begun by the regulator.
