Problem gamblers find loophole in BetStop self-exclusion register

Although over 20,000 Australian gamblers have registered on the government's self-exclusion register, a glitch in the verification process has allowed some of them to continue placing bets and receiving marketing.

The communications watchdog has requested that wagering groups ensure that, when registering for an account, potential customers are required to enter their first and last name, mobile phone number, and do not use a landline or any other shortened or variation of their name, including middle names.
