Professor admits responsible gambling programs lacking in effectiveness

September is Responsible Gaming Education Month, an annual program of the American Gaming Association that emphasizes and promotes the responsible gaming initiatives of the commercial and tribal gaming sectors. However, a professor of gaming economics at Washington State University writes this week that regulation for gambling addictions is generally ineffective. MGM said this month that GameSense branding will be placed within the nine NFL stadiums where its BetMGM sportsbook will advertise this year.

The professor's acknowledgment accentuates the necessity for ongoing assessment and enhancement of responsible gambling endeavors.

It is troubling to learn that responsible gambling programs may not be as impactful as hoped. However, we must acknowledge the challenges and continue striving to improve support for those struggling with addiction. With commitment and care, more effective solutions can be found over time.

Enhancing the reach and impact of these programs can be achieved by improving their accessibility and availability. This will enable a wider audience to benefit from them, leading to a more substantial influence.
