Leo Varadkar, the Taoiseach, has contributed well over €1 million from the party's yearly raffle, which is the most successful political fundraiser, to its electoral war chest.
13,099 tickets were purchased for this year's Fine Gael "Superdraw" at a cost of €80 each, raising slightly under €1.05 million for the party in power.
After failing to reach the million dollar milestone for ten years, "Leo's lottery" has now exceeded seven figures for the second consecutive year. The draw, which traditionally takes place in December, enables the party to finish the year on a high note financially.
