Proposed Citi Field casino fails to secure approval from New York state senator

A state senator has voiced opposition to Steve Cohen's plans for a property at Citi Field in Queens, adding a new twist to New York's downstate casino project.

Community contributions, such as the construction of 20 acres of new parkland and five acres of playgrounds and sports fields, would support this. The infrastructure would be made climate-ready.

The Democratic lawmaker for New York's District claims she won't put forth legislation that would devalue Corona's current parkland in order to make it easier for the casino to redevelop it.
