Proposed establishment of Times Square Casino could face some crime-related obstacles

The goal of a group that includes rapper Jay-Z's RocNation entertainment agency, real estate developer SL Green, and Caesars Entertainment is to build a casino hotel in Times Square, New York City. However, if this project is successful, it may be hindered by the opinions of some residents regarding the level of crime in the area.

According to a recent Situation Group survey, wealthy suburbanites in their 55s and older are hesitant to venture back to Times Square for Broadway performances out of fear for their safety.

The casino bidders are attempting to capitalize on their proposed location as potentially accretive to local businesses, including the theater community, though Caesars, Jay-Z, and SL Green have not publicly commented on the Situation Group findings.
