Rebuying and adding on at the poker table is always a dodgy proposition. Augmenting your stack seems prudent when the cards are running hot, but inevitably the tide will turn. More money in the pot just means bigger losses when the losing hands come.
Every chip added to the pot poses greater risk. Once that extra money goes in the middle, it’s as good as gone if I fold. I have to make a stand and see it through, hoping my positional advantage or tells I’ve picked up will save the day. More often than not though, the only tell is how perceptive the other players are to my desperation. Rebuying is a sucker’s bet.
