Rising teen gambling addiction in South Korea concerning for government

Statistics show that teenage internet gambling is increasing in South Korea, which has prompted government and law enforcement actions to stop the trend.

Rehab programs for online gambling addictions are available, but there is a noticeable lack of medical support; in Korea, the National Center for Youth Internet Addiction Treatment is the only facility that provides such programs.

For 11 nights and 12 days, admission to the state-run rehab camp requires giving up smartphones and other internet-enabled devices. Playing sports like basketball, ping pong, or musical instruments exposes participants to the dangers of gambling.
